Physical Education The Physical Education courses introduce students to a variety of sports and physical activities in order to encourage a concern for lifetime fitness and good health practices. Physical education is a fitness based class. I focus on cardiovascular fitness, physical fitness, and weight training through activities such as running, swimming, and lifting weights. I also teach different sport units including handball, flag football, tennis, volleyball, badminton, floor hockey, ultimate frisbee, softball, and more. My goal is during PE students will improve the 5 elements of fitness: cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition.
Health The Health Education course focuses on health promotion, disease prevention, internal and external influences, valid health information, products and services, interpersonal communication, decision-making and goal-setting, health behaviors, and advocacy. The units I cover include: Living a Healthy Life, Building Health Skills and Character, Being a Health-Literate Consumer, Physical Activity for Life, Nutrition and Your Health, Managing Weight and Body Composition, Managing Stress and Anxiety, Mental and Emotional Problems, Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drugs.
